In June, employment in Nevada is up 45,500 over the year, an increase of 3.3 percent according to the state’s Department of Employment, Training, and Rehabilitation (DETR). That’s more than double the current U.S. growth rate (1.5%) and leads the nation for June, according to the US Bureau of Labor Statistics.

That’s also despite a decrease of 4,000 jobs from May. While the public sector outperformed seasonal expectations, the private sector’s fell short. Professional and business services have added the most jobs out of all sectors using a 12-month moving average through June over the same year time last year, up 13,100 jobs. Construction and manufacturing are next.

The state’s unemployment rate is unchanged at 4 percent, and down half a percentage point when compared to last June. The gap between the U.S. unemployment rate and Nevada’s rate is the smallest it’s been since January of 2008, at 0.3 percentage points.
